3. Students will: pay close attention to the three memories that The Giver
transmits to Jonas. Notice how the author uses words, phrases, and details that
appeal to the senses to convey the memory. Use the chart below to take a
closer look at how descriptive language contributes to the effect of the chapter.
Then use sensory language to describe a feeling of your choice.
4. On the back of this page, use those sense words, phrases, and details to
write a paragraph that describes the feeling.
