2016 EDUCATION CAREER FAIR
February 1st, 10am - 2pm
Shatner Ballroom, SSMU Building
Welcome Message
Dear Students,
On behalf of the McGill Education Undergraduate Society (EdUS),
the Internships and Student Affairs Office (ISA) and the McGill Career
Planning Services (CaPS), it is our pleasure to welcome you to McGill
University’s 25th Annual Education Career Fair. It is our hope that you
enjoy your day, and use this opportunity to make quality contacts that
will benefit you in your future careers.
In this booklet, you will find useful information pertaining to all the
school boards, educational organizations and education-related companies that are participating in the 2016 Career Fair; it is both your guide
to the Fair, as well as a reference manual for your future job search.
At this time, we would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone
who has helped to make this event possible. First, we extend our sincere
appreciation to Josie Capizzi, Jean Hepworth, and the entire CaPS staff.
We also would like to thank all of the members of EdUS, as well as the
many students who have given their time to volunteer for the Fair.
Thank you for your efforts and dedication toward this event.
To the McGill Education students who will be graduating this year,
we congratulate you on your success, and wish you the best of luck in
your future endeavours. We hope this event serves you well and that
through it, you find many opportunities for the future ahead of you.
All the best,

Boundless Adventures Association
The Boundless School helps teens accomplish extraordinary feats of learning
by blending adventure, high school curriculum, counselling and leadership
development. Based on our 600 acre “classroom” in the Madawaska Highlands
of Eastern Ontario, teaching at Boundless can be a challenging gig. Once
described as working in a M.A.S.H. unit, we strive to create an educational
utopia for kids who don’t fit elsewhere. Navigating this M.A.S.H./UTOPIA
contradiction is the beauty of Boundless.
Our students are regarded as struggling. They stay with us anywhere from
5-200 days in a year round capacity.
We emphasize connecting with students above all else, and this often needs
courage.
The spring/summer program is mostly outdoor adventure based. We are river
people, and we climb, hike or go to remote wilderness. Summer contracts,
it is hoped, will pave the way for full time employment as soon as teachers
graduate.
In the fall and winter, we are a boarding school, helping students not engaged
by mainstream education develop new relationships with achievement and
learning.

Camp La Grande Aventure en Anglais
Camp La Grande Aventure en Anglais is an English immersion residential
camp located in Saint Donat, Québec on the lake Pimbina near Mont
Tremblant Provincial Park. The camp receives francophone children from 7 to
16 years old. The mission of the camp is for campers to speak English all day in
an outdoor setting. The camp gives an extended training to counsellors. They
will learn to animate conversational workshops in groups of 5 campers twice
a day for a total of 3 hours each day. They will also be trained to accompany
the campers in a large range of outdoor activities like, trekking, canoeing, rock
climbing, mountain biking, arts and crafts, team games, leadership games,
camping and more.
A counsellor will get a good experience in teaching different children age
groups and learn how to interact personally with them. Teamwork, focusing
on campers, listening, understanding and responding well to children, adapt
to any situation, being composed during a challenging event, develop
initiative and being proactive will be few abilities that a counsellor will
develop further at camp.

Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS Ontario)
The Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS Ontario) is a collegial
association of 47 schools working together to advance educational excellence
in its member schools. Schools that belong to CIS Ontario participate in an
extensive list of student programs (athletics, music drama, dance) and as well,
engage in extensive and targeted professional development.
Because member schools do not belong to a public board, there is no
requirement for schools to hire redundant teachers from another school,
and as such, there are always job opportunities for new teachers at member
schools every year. All available job postings can be found on the association’s
website, www.cisontario.ca

Quebec Association of Independent Schools (QAIS) /
Association des écoles privées du Québec (QAIS)
The Quebec Association of Independent Schools (QAIS) is an organization
consisting of English elementary and secondary independent schools
licensed in the public interest and located in Quebec, Canada. Member
schools, represented by the Head of School, are not for profit, fiscally sound
educational institutions governed by, and responsible to, an arm’s length
Board of Governors. Our vision is to be the leading voice of educational
excellence in Quebec. As a community of independent schools, the QAIS
actively promotes innovation, collaboration and educational excellence.
Independent schools seek teachers who are passionate about teaching
in general and about one or more fields of study in particular in English
or French, and who are caring in their relationships with students and
colleagues. One of the advantages of independent schools is that they are
“independent” in governance and therefore have more flexibility.
Find out more about QAIS by checking out our website. Take a look at the
Career Corner regularly for current job postings.
